About this coin
The Royal Mint's one-ounce bullion Britannia, struck in 999.9 fine gold with the Mint's four security features: a latent image, micro-text, tincture lines and a surface animation. As UK legal tender with a £100 face value it is exempt from capital gains tax for UK residents, and like all investment gold it carries no VAT. We hold current-year coins in stock at the counter. Supplied in a capsule; tubes of ten at the 10+ price.
Is the 1oz Gold Britannia 2026 capital gains tax free?
Yes. It is UK legal tender, so gains on it are exempt from capital gains tax for UK residents. Bars and foreign coins are not exempt.
What does 3.50% over spot mean?
The spot price is the live London market price for the metal. Our price is the metal content at spot plus a premium of 3.50% to cover minting, handling and insured delivery. The premium falls as you buy more; the tiers are shown above.
Do I need to send ID to buy this online?
For orders of £5,000.00 or more we run an electronic identity check at checkout. Most customers pass instantly. If the check cannot confirm you, we ask for a photo of your passport or driving licence before dispatch.
Can I collect from the counter instead?
